Rejection rate of animal experiment applications in Germany (2015–2017)
An analysis of data on the approval and rejection of animal experiment applications requiring official authorization in Germany's federal states shows for the first time that less than 1% of such applications are rejected by the authorities nationwide. In many individual federal states, the rejection rate is 0%, and across the three years analyzed, it is generally below 1% and only rarely exceeds 1%. The analysis is based on information requested from the relevant regulatory authorities on the number of approvals and rejections of animal experiment applications requiring authorization in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
