Ending primate research inthe European Union

Many of the 10,000 primates used in European Union laboratories are imported from countries such as Mauritius, Vietnam, Barbados, China and Cambodia. Some are captured from the wild and either exported overseas, or kept in inadequate conditions for breeding while their offspring are exported overseas for research. 

For years, the BUAV has led the campaign against the international trade in primates for research. Footage, never before captured on film, has revealed the brutality and cruelty inflicted on monkeys during their capture, caging, holding and transportation to the research laboratory.
